I had absolutely no past experience doing obstacle course races but I decided to do Reign of Terror as it was a fundraiser for my local community and it sounded like a good challenge with plenty of craic involved. I did it as part of a team but anyone could do it on their own even if they weren’t with a group.
I wasn’t nervous about doing the course. I was just there to take part and finish the course no matter how long it took. All the obstacles were great but the bog mud run was my favourite obstacle. I found the tyre pull the most challenging. Throughout the whole course there were more than enough marshalls and they were very helpful. There was great camaraderie at the event. Everyone was helping each other. I helped anyone that was having difficulty with an obstacle as I approached it. Straight after completing the course I felt extremely happy that I had finished it and I felt a great amount of satisfaction.

There was a terrific atmosphere on the day. Such a great buzz just before starting race and that buzz continued all the way throughout the race. The scenery was amazing. Kells was a perfect setting with plenty car parking facilities.
I will definitely do Reign of Terror again. It was so enjoyable and will try and better my time the next time I do it. My advice to others who are thinking about doing Reign of Terror is to look forward to doing it. It is a challenging course but it is doable. Bring along a couple of friends with you to help you through the difficult obstacles.

I would recommend Reign of Terror to anyone. Kells is a fantastic location with amazing scenery. The course is very tough but also very achievable to complete be it the 5k or 10k. Also the amount of satisfaction you will get from completing the course will be immense. Just go for it, you’ve nothing to lose and all to gain!
